OMBUDSMAN PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE OF THE SIERRA LEONE SCOUTS ASSOCIATION
The Ombudsman Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah Esq has paid a courtesy visit to the National President and other executives of the Sierra Leone Scout Association at their Office at New England in Freetown.
Addressing the President and his Executive, the Ombudsman stated that his Office is created by the Constitution of Sierra Leone Act No. 6 of 1991 and the enabling Ombudsman Act of 1997. He stated that his office uses Alternative Dispute Resolution methods to redress grievances. He notes that the Ombudsman's Office is charged with the responsibility of investigating administrative acts/ omissions of a prescribed Authority (MDAs) in the discharge of their duties.
He further stated that the Sierra Leone Scout Association being an agency of government supervised by the Ministry of Social Welfare falls under the mandate of the Ombudsman.
Responding, the President of the Sierra Leone Scout Association Sheik Fomba Swaray, thanked the Ombudsman and Team for the visit. He stated that the Scout Association is an association that instills discipline in their members. He further noted that the Ombudsman's Office has been pivotal in ensuring that the issues of injustices and maladministration within government institutions is brought to a minimal. He pledged his Institution's support to the Office of the Ombudsman.
