OMBUDSMAN ENGAGES THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND TRANSMISSION COMPANY (EGTC)THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND TRANSMISSION COMPANY

The Ombudsman Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah Esq has paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company Ing. Milton Ngegbai and his Management Team at their Offices at Kingtom Power House.
The Ombudsman explained his mandate as provided for in the Constitution of Sierra Leone Act No. 6 of 1991 and the Ombudsman Act of 1997. He further noted that his office is a grievance redress Institution that employs Alternative Dispute Resolution processes in handling complaints and also ensures the promotion of good governance. He furthered that the duties of his Office ensure that Public sector staff work in a dignified environment free of reprisals and other forms of intimidation.

He defined injustice and maladministration in relation to the working environment as bias, harshness or general high-handedness, misleading a member of the public as to his rights, losing or failing to reply to correspondences from members of the public.
Thanking the Ombudsman and Team, the Director General of EGTC ING. Milton Ngegbai stated that the work of the Ombudsman's Office is pertinent and relevant to the smooth running of Institutions in the public/Civil service. He said that EGTC responsible for the generation of electricity is relatively compliant as all administrative decisions taken are based on their staff handbook. He also thanked the Ombudsman for the bold steps in sensitizing members of MDAs about maladministration. He further pledged his Institution's continued support to the work of the Office of the Ombudsman.
