OMBUDSMAN ENGAGES THE MANAGING DIRECTOR AND MANAGEMENT OF GUMA VALLEY WATER COMPANY

In a bid to continue sensitizing and building collaboration with MDAs, the Ombudsman Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah Esq. has paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Management Team of Guma Valley Water Company, Maada Kpenge at their Offices at Guma Building, Lamina Sankoh Street.

Making a presentation on the Mandate and functions of his Office, the Ombudsman noted that the Guma Valley Water Company is a public entity charged with the responsibility of providing clean pipe- borne water to the citizens of the Western Area.

He stated that over the years, his Office has been enjoying good working relationship with Guma Valley Water Company. He stated that as a Public entity, its staff as well as the public may complain the Company and that they should not see the Ombudsman as an intruder into their administration but as an arbiter in ensuring that those issues are settle amicably.

Responding, the Managing Director Maada Kpenge stated that the company is trying its best to supply clean drinking water to the Western Area but they sometimes face challenges from Citizens who are putting up structures on the supply lines and also catchment Areas.

He stated that they as a Company are trying their best in ensuring that they go by the Public Service Code when dealing with staff issues. He maintained that they are also guided by the HRMO on issues that deal with retirement benefits. He revealed that they have been working closely with the Office of the Ombudsman and that all matter with the office have been concluded amicably.

He thanked the Ombudsman and Team for the visit whilst assuring the Ombudsman of his company's continued cooperation.
