He further noted that he is embarking on a public awareness and sensitization drive to explain his mandate, because the impact of the office was not felt by members of the public or civil service. He defined injustice and maladministration and also explained the methods used in resolving complaints which are negotiations and mediation and other methods that are fair, effective and efficient.

Thanking the Ombudsman and Team, the Minister of Social Welfare, Melrose Kormaty noted that the Ombudsman's office has a huge mandate, but those functions are not known by many people including Ministers and Public officials. She encouraged the Ombudsman to do more in sensitizing the public on his mandate. She said that with the required constitutional backing the Ombudsman should ensure that even People Living With Disabilities (PLWD), also benefit from the services his office offers. She pledged her Ministry’s continued support to the office of the ombudsman.
