In building and fostering cordial relationship with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, the Ombudsman Ahmed Tejan Israel Jah, Esq. has paid a courtesy visit to the Accountant General at his Office at Treasury Building in Freetown.
Briefing the Accountant General and one of his deputies, the Ombudsman noted that there has been a cordial relationship between his office and that of the Accountant General’s office but his presence is to strengthen that relationship and continue to build on it. Ombudsman Jah, revealed that during the course of duty there are some reprisals on his Institution as some officials view his office as an intruder into their administration. He described what the Ombudsman’s Act defines as Injustice and Maladministration and maintained that his institutions is impartial when carrying out investigations on administrative issues. He spoke of the need for the Accountant General to continue to provide the much needed support to his office.

In his response the Accountant General, Richard Williams revealed that the mandate and functions of the Ombudsman are not new to him as he had developed a cordial working relationship with the office over time. He noted that all decisions from his Office are guided by the Public Financial Management Act, and promised his Department’s continued support to the Ombudsman’s Office.
