The Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law (CARL), referred a complaint to the Ombudsman on 10th November, 2013 from Mr. R. who complained that he had been summarily dismissed by FBC after 27 years of service.

The Ombudsman wrote to the Deputy Registrar - FBC who replied that the complainant was summarily dismissed because he used his official vehicle for unofficial purposes without permission; and in the process he was involved in an accident causing serious damage to the vehicle.

The Ombudsman informed the complainant about the response of FBC and he (the complainant) confirmed that the reply was a true statement of the facts. The Ombudsman therefore concluded that the complaint was unjustified and informed CARL that there was nothing he could do to resolve the matter.

(This is a sample of the complaints dealt with by the Ombudsman that was published in the 2013/2014 Annual Report of the Office of the Ombudsman. The aim is to create a better understanding of the kinds of complaints that are referred to the Ombudsman and how they are resolved)
